Dr Darsh Patel, Specialist Orthodontist and Clinical Director at SmartDontics, recently delivered an in-office training course for the teams at Cambridge Orthodontic, Bishop’s Stortford and Pure Orthodontics, in partnership with Ormco.
The course focused on Damon Ultima, a new-generation self-ligating brace system. Many orthodontists see it as the most significant step forward since the original straight-wire appliance transformed orthodontics in the 1970s.
What makes Damon Ultima different?
Damon Ultima combines a newly designed bracket with a precision wire system. Together they give the orthodontist much finer control over how each tooth moves, including the position of the roots, which is key to a stable, long-lasting result.
For patients, this means:
- A more conservative approach: In many cases teeth can be straightened without needing to take any out.
- Comfort: Low-friction brackets and lighter forces make treatment more comfortable.
- Predictable results: Precise control means the planned outcome is more consistently achieved.
- Efficient treatment: The system is designed to move teeth efficiently, which can mean fewer adjustments.
